Visit the doctor for your baby’s well-child exam, which may include a physical exam, shots, and other age-based screenings. These checkups can be used for enrollment in daycare centers, schools, or Head Start.
Check with your baby’s doctor to see what vaccines are needed. At the 6-month visit, your baby may receive the third doses of their vaccines. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the Centers for Disease Control and the CDC also recommend the flu and COVID shots for children 6 months of age and older as soon as it becomes available.
TIP: Did you know RSV season falls in October to March? Ask your doctor about the RSV vaccine for your baby.

If you don’t have a doctor or clinic, did you know your baby can get free vaccines through the Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program?

A dental health check may be done. Most babies begin to cut teeth around 6 months of age.
Your baby’s doctor will ask you how you are feeling. If you or your partner are having postpartum issues with breastfeeding, anxiety, or sadness, or anything else, please feel free to discuss it with your baby’s doctor.
Your baby’s doctor will perform a physical exam, measure and weigh your baby to make sure their growth is on track, and observe their development and behavior.
You may have many questions you’d like to ask your doctor about your baby’s development.
