This program engages low-income fathers, particularly in urban settings, in the care and upbringing of their children.

National Compadres Network
This program leverages reading and storytelling to increase the positive involvement of fathers, grandfathers, uncles, older brothers, compadres and other significant males in the lives of children.

Meetup.com
Meetup makes it easy to organize a local group, or find one that already meets. There are several Meetup groups for dads in the L.A. area.

Red Tricycle
Red Tricycle's mission is to help parents have more fun with their kids. They offer ideas for cool things to see, eat, make and do with your kids in your neighborhood.

LA County Library
COLA's website has special sections for children and parents. They have recommended books by age, as well as kits for dads and kids to read and play together.

LA Public Library
LAPL offers story times and programs across the city, and their website has details and other resources.

Reading Is Fundamental (RIF)
The RIF website has book lists and activities in English and Spanish that are fun and educational for dads and kids.

L.A. Fathers Program - ECHO PARENTING & EDUCATION

This program for fathers ages 15-25 provides workshops on healthy relationships, job training and placement services, and offers a network of support for young families through several partner organizations. This program is also offered by Children’s Hospital in South Los Angeles. Services are available in English and Spanish.

Support for fathers who have been involved in gangs and/or who have a criminal record. Free services include fatherhood classes, Baby & Me parenting classes, domestic violence intervention for men, training to work certification and/or employment placement, anger management groups, tattoo removal and legal services. The purpose of this program is to encourage and support fathers to be more involved in the care and support of their children. This initiative seeks to reduce infant mortality, low birth weight, and preterm births by making the father an active participant with the mother in securing appropriate health care before, during, and after the birth of the child.
