Visit the doctor for your baby’s well-child exam, which may include a physical exam, shots, and other age-based screenings. These checkups can be used for enrollment in daycare centers, schools, or Head Start.
Check with your baby’s doctor to see what vaccines are needed. Your baby may receive a vaccine at the one-month or two-month checkup.

If you don’t have a doctor or clinic, did you know your baby can get free vaccines through the Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program?

This is a great time to talk with your baby’s doctor about how things are going at home with your new baby. They may ask about how well baby is eating, if you have enough food, or ask how you are feeling. If you are feeling anxious or sad, or anything else, you are not alone and your doctor is ready to help.
Your baby’s doctor will perform a physical exam, measure and weigh your baby to make sure their growth is on track, and observe their development and behavior.
You may have many questions you’d like to ask your doctor about your baby’s development.

Often, a new parent’s biggest concern is about how much and how often the baby breastfeeds. It’s nearly impossible to measure the milk because it can’t be seen. However, there are signs that inform you that your baby is well-fed. Here are some guidelines to help you know if your baby is getting enough.
If you need help with breastfeeding, call the Breastfeeding Hotline at (888) 278-6455 Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM PST.
