The National WIC Association (NWA) has sent a request with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics to the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Food & Nutrition Service (FNS) to actively engage the FDA regarding safety limits for heavy metals and provide guidance to WIC families.

Beech-Nut Nutrition recalls Infant Rice Cereal

Beech-Nut Nutrition has issued a voluntary recall for Beech-Nut Single Grain Rice Cereal, UPC 52200034705, that has an expiration date of 01MAY2022.

Consumers who may have purchased Beech-Nut Infant Rice Cereal (8 oz.) with product codes: 103470XXXX and 093470XXXX with expiration of 01MAY2022 should discard the product.

Consumers can call 1-866-272-9417, Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., for further information on obtaining an exchange or a refund.

Guan’s Mushroom Co. recalls Enoki Mushroom

Guan’s Mushroom Co. recalls Enoki Mushroom (Product of China) that comes in a 200g/ 7.05 oz, clear plastic package, UPC 810023170303. Product code is RY3428A or RY3434A in the front bottom.

These mushrooms have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, a bacterium which can cause life-threatening illness or death. Currently, no illnesses have been reported to date.

However, consumers who have purchased these mushrooms recently are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund and/or discard the product. Consumers with questions can call 1-323-223-1188, Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
