WIC regularly collects extensive information about the families it serves in its administrative database, which includes socio-demographic and health information. Since 2002, First 5 LA, a nonprofit child-advocacy organization in California, has funded PHFE WIC to address the critical gap in information about low-income families in Los Angeles County. With the support of seven local agency WIC Programs and the California WIC Program, a system has been created to electronically aggregate data across the county. All personal and confidential information has been removed and data is collected for analytical purposes only.
