To be eligible for the WIC Program, a person must meet categorical and income requirements.
Women
• Pregnant women
• Breastfeeding women (up to the infant's
1st birthday)
• Postpartum women up to six months after giving birth.
Infants
• Up to the infant's first birthday
Children
• Up to the child's fifth birthday
• Foster children may qualify
Income eligibility requires that a household have gross
income at or below 185%
of the federal poverty level. Many working
families with low to moderate income are WIC
eligible and do not realize it. WIC provides
services to all qualified applicants regardless
of citizenship and has no immigration restrictions
for eligibility.
• Medical/health providers may refer
their patients to the WIC Program using a
referral form with the client's name, date
of birth, height, weight, blood results, lead
test results and any other health concerns.
• Families may self-refer by calling the WIC Program directly at (888) 942-2229.
The PHFE WIC Program will provide medical/health providers with WIC information and referral forms to facilitate access to WIC services.
